Do you ever see a poll online and wonder how in the world they came to that assumption?

Do you ever see a news piece that uses terrible data and statistics based on almost no information and then they blast it around the world as representing our entire country?

Do you ever look for the fine print to find out where they conducted the poll? Who they polled? How many have they polled? What they asked? Where were the people from? What was their age? What was their political affiliation?

Today is one of those days I have to shake my head and purposely not go ballistic on social media over a completely ignorant article and poll published on the Associate Press website.

The news article is based on the following survey. The paragraph below is actually taken from the article on the AP website.

The poll of 1,220 adults was conducted June 22-26 using a sample drawn from NORC’s probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is designed to be representative of the U.S. population. 

So somehow, some scholar decided that polling 1220 people now represents this country.
