Callings

By Gabriel Smith gabrielsmithpro@gmail.com

In the book of Matthew, we read that just before Jesus Christ
left earth, He gave his disciples a command.

And
Jesus came and said to them,
“All authority in heaven and on
earth has been given to me.

Go
therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all
that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the
age.

Matthew 28:18-20

This is known as the Great Commission.
This is the calling God gave to all Christians to go and tell people of the
gospel. many Christians read this and say awesome I can’t wait for God to call
me to go do something. Well, this is where most Christians make a mistake. Most Christians
wait and wait…and wait for a calling but the fact is, we already have one. God already
called us. We don’t have to wait for a calling because we already received one.
Matter a fact the only reason we shouldn’t share the gospel is if God specifically tells us
no. You need to start pursuing a path of ministry right now where you are and God will guide you. This doesn’t necessarily mean we have to go to some foreign country, be a pastor, or some other kind of minister, what
it does mean is that we need to be a light in the darkness no matter where we
are, even if you are not a pastor or a missionary you can be a light in the way you live, how we treat others, and what we say. God has called us to share the love of Jesus with everyone we encounter,
our friends, our family, our neighbors, anyone. While it is great
to travel to another country and share the gospel, we need to share the gospel
right where we are. God loves everyone, the people living in Africa, and the people
living next door. God has called us to be the light of the world to everyone
everywhere which means right now right here, in your neighborhood. It is now or never, the world is waiting, the question is, are you going to do something.
