Taking the Menopause Bull by the Horns – beginning symptoms

Taking the Menopause Bull by the Horns!
Taken while we were in Ft. Worth at a bull riding event.

It was about 2 am and I woke up hot as could be.  Normally I am cold and have to pull the blankets up around my neck, but not lately.

The thermostat is where it has been for the last couple of months.

The weather hasn’t gotten much warmer.

I grabbed my laptop and went to the couch.  There is always work or research to do for my blogs, website, or the next city we want to travel to.  The news was on and I was wide awake.

What is the deal?  Why am I hot and can’t sleep?

These are two common symptoms of menopause.  I am a little young to be in full blown menopause, but I am at an age where I can begin to experience some of the mild symptoms.

This wasn’t the first night I couldn’t sleep.

So, my thoughts are – What can I do to make sure I get enough sleep?

I will need to make sure I go to bed at a decent hour.  That way if I wake up in the middle of the night I still get enough sleep, which we all know is critical to good health.

My dear mother sent me a set of jammies that are full body and flannel.  I might have to go with lighter sleep wear and no socks.

When I do wake up I will try to not get up and watch TV or work on the computer like I did last night.  Health shows always say that removing bright lights, TV, and computer screens about 30 minutes before bed helps us to fall asleep faster.  Also, I am going to take my calcium magnesium supplement in the evening.  According to Dr. Oz it supposed to help sleep. Maybe I will enjoy a cup of Chamomile Tea also.

If I do wake up at night I will try to use that time to pray for myself and others.  I can use that time to focus on God and His word.  I can turn sleeplessness into a special time with my best friend – Jesus.
